The Sunflow-RXL is a twenty-gallon solar water heater that connects to your garden hose and has its own hot water and distilled water output tubes. The system is gravity-fed, the higher the unit relative to your output, the higher the pressure. Also included is a square of protective tarp to place between your Sunflow-RXL unit and the flat roof or platform, which will help to protect the unit from damage. The Sunflow-RXL can be repaired in most cases with polyethylene or tarp-repair tape.

During use, the internal float valve is adjustable depending on your needs. Lower the float valve to provide faster heating of water or raise the float valve to provide more water volume. A lower water level will provide quicker hot water in the mornings, while a higher water level will provide hot water well after the sun goes down. The temperature of the water from the Sunflow-RXL is typically 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the outdoor temperature. Direct sunlight is essential for optimum operation.

The amount of distilled water that the Sunflow-RXL will produce is also closely dependent on available sunlight. For a hot climate, you can expect 3 to 6 liters per day in emergency-mode (i.e. with evaporation pad inserted) and 2 to 4 liters per day in daily use mode (i.e. automatic fill, coupled with hot water use.) If you use a lot of solar heated water throughout the day, your output of distilled water will decrease somewhat. If you don't need the solar heated water, you can also set up your Sunflow-RXL in automatic mode with the evaporation pad, and the float-valve set to the lowest level, so that just the top of the internal level is approximately the same level as the evaporation pad.
